Applying For A Mail-in Ballot
Voting by mail is simple, easy, and secure. Follow the steps below to follow your ballot.
Before applying, check to be sure you did not already apply for a ballot, especially if you voted by mail in the primary. Check Your Status Here.
If you see “Application Received” for the “2020 General Election”, you should not apply for a ballot. You should receive your ballot in a few weeks. Use the link above at any time to check the status.
If the status does not reflect that you have applied for the 2020 General Election, you should Apply for a Mail in Ballot Here
If you can’t apply online, you can apply by mail using this form Vote By Mail Application (English) or Solicitud de la papeleta de voto por correo en Pennsylvania
Be sure to vote and return your ballot as soon as you receive it! Don't wait and risk delay in the mail. Mail by October 20th to ensure it will be received in a timely manner.
Fill out your ballot by: 1) Completing your entire ballot in blue or black ink. 2) Sealing your ballot inside the smaller secrecy envelope; then, placing that in the larger return envelope. 3) Signing and completing the Voter Declaration on the back of the larger return envelope.
One week after you return the ballot, check to be sure it was received by clicking here.
If you have questions about the process or are concerned that your ballot was not received, call the PA Dems Voter protection hotline at 1-833-PAVOTES (833-728-6837)
Returning Your Mail-in Ballot
There are five easy ways to return your ballot this election cycle.
By Mail: Complete the ballot, seal it in the secrecy envelope, seal that in the return envelope, sign the return envelope, and send it back. Postage is paid for by the state. All ballots postmarked by election day, November 3rd, will be counted. However, try to mail your ballot at least 14 days in advance (October 20th) to ensure it is received in a timely manner.
Drop Off In Person: You may take YOUR OWN ballot to the County Board of Elections or one of the satellite locations listed above and deliver it in person on or before October 27. You may only deliver your own ballot this way, you may not deliver a family member's or anyone else's ballot.
Drop Off at a Drop Box: At a drop box, you will be able to drop YOUR OWN ballot, and ONLY YOUR OWN ballot. Click here for a list of drop box locations in the district.
Vote Early in-Person: Early in-person voting is similar to absentee or mail-in voting, except you will fill out the application and ballot entirely in person. You can vote early in-person at the County Board of Elections or at one of four satellite voter services locations. At these locations, you can register to vote, drop off your ballot, or vote “early in-person.”
